With Confidence
Lateflint runs small, relaxed study groups where adults over 40 build a working vocabulary of investment concepts — no portfolio advice, no pressure, just clarity.
Our Study Programmes
Three Courses, One Clear Direction
Each programme runs as a small reading group — structured enough to build knowledge, relaxed enough to ask questions that matter to you.
Vocabulary of Markets
A short introductory study group focused on the words and concepts that appear in financial publications — equities, bonds, unit trusts, dividends, yield, volatility, and benchmarks. Small-group conversation around a curated reader.
- No prior knowledge needed
- Curated reader included
- Educational, no individual advice
Reading Annual Reports for Households
A six-week reading group working through publicly available Bursa Malaysia annual reports as case studies in general literacy — not as recommendations. Learn to navigate sections and recognise terminology.
- Weekly readings and discussion notes
- Glossary booklet provided
- Uses real Bursa-listed case studies
The Considered Allocator Programme
A structured 12-week cohort for adults 40+ who want grounding in how diversified portfolios are conceptually built, how time horizons interact with risk perception, and what questions to ask before any decision.
- Printed reader and peer forum
- Weekly facilitator sessions
- Personal-reflection workbook
Why Lateflint
What Makes Our Approach Different
Education, Not Advice
We build your reading ability and conceptual fluency. No individual portfolio recommendations are made — ever. You stay informed and in control.
Small Groups, Real Conversation
Maximum 12 participants per cohort. Questions get answered, not deferred. The pace is set by the group, not a fixed lecture schedule.
Structured Like an Atlas
Every concept sits on its own chart with plain-language legends and clear cross-references. You build a mental map you can return to and navigate independently.
Grounded in Malaysian Context
Case studies draw from Bursa Malaysia-listed companies and locally available instruments. The terminology you encounter here is the terminology your providers actually use.
Designed for a Busy Stage of Life
Sessions are scheduled with working adults in mind — evenings and weekend mornings. The reading load is manageable even for those returning to structured study after decades.
Materials You Can Keep
Printed readers, glossary booklets, and reflection workbooks are yours to reference long after the programme ends. The knowledge stays in the room — and on your shelf.

Common Questions
Frequently Asked
Do I need any financial background to join?
No background is needed. The introductory programme — Vocabulary of Markets — is designed specifically for people who feel they should understand more of what their providers send them but don't know where to start. The longer programmes build progressively from that foundation.
Will I receive investment recommendations?
No. Lateflint is an educational study group, not a licensed financial advisory service. We do not give individual investment recommendations. We help you understand the concepts and questions well enough to have better conversations with your licensed adviser.
How large are the groups?
We cap each cohort at 12 participants. This keeps the discussion format workable and means everyone has space to ask questions without feeling rushed or ignored.
When do sessions take place?
Sessions are held on weekday evenings (7:00 PM – 9:00 PM) and Saturday mornings (9:30 AM – 11:30 AM) at our Bukit Bintang premises. Exact schedules are confirmed when a cohort forms. Contact us and we'll let you know the upcoming dates.
What is included in the programme fee?
All printed materials — readers, discussion notes, glossary booklets, and workbooks where applicable — are included. There are no additional course material fees. Tea and coffee are available at all sessions.
Is this suitable if I am already working with a financial adviser?
Yes — in fact, many participants find the programmes most useful when they already have an adviser. Understanding the concepts means you can engage more meaningfully in those conversations and evaluate what you are being told with more confidence.
Can I join any programme, or do I need to start with the first one?
The programmes are designed in order of depth — Vocabulary of Markets → Reading Annual Reports → The Considered Allocator Programme — but they are not strictly sequential. If you have relevant experience or have done similar reading on your own, we can discuss which entry point makes sense for you.
